This is Alan Guiomard’s bright idea for Galway.

A youth programme to develop student creativity, highlighting the work of Galway Simon Community.

This youth photography programme will introduce over 400 transition year students to the reality of homelessness whilst developing their creativity.

Capture-Create-Contribute is an innovative educational programme & schools competition which aims to teach students how they can advocate and raise awareness of homelessness in their community through photography & creativity run by the Simon Community.

Following the workshops, students will be encouraged to enter into the photography competition ‘Capture, Create, Contribute’ by forming groups and taking a photo that for them illustrates the current homeless crisis.

Bill Griffin, CEO of Galway Simon Community believes:

This programme provides a unique avenue to engage young people in Galway in the discussion on the homeless crisis and encourages them to become advocates for those who are experiencing homelessness in our community

Twelve finalists will be selected through a voting system and an awards night will be held on 24th November where the winners will be presented with their awards by Irish Rugby player, Ronan Loughney.

A calendar of the winning photographs will be sold this Christmas to raise vital funds for Galway Simon Community.
