About KBC Bright Ideas

We’ve put aside a €100,000 fund for Bright Ideas across Ireland and would like to share it with you.

The KBC Bright Ideas fund is open to anyone with a Bright Idea that can help improve his or hercommunity or business within the next 12 months. We ask people to share their Bright Idea for their community or business and explain why it deserves to be supported and how it’ll make a difference.

Over the last four years we have received hundreds of Bright ideas from Cork, Dublin, GalwayGreater Leinster, KilkennyLimerick and Waterford.

Each year submissions are judged by one of our 7 regional judging panels who had €100,000 to distribute as they saw fit and were on the lookout for innovation, creativity and genuine passion for their project.

In 2016 our regional judges created a shortlist of 15 Bright Idea winners from hundreds of entries for the national public vote on Facebook and Twitter. Waterford Marine Search and Rescue were chosen as Ireland’s Brightest Idea for 2016, receiving an additional €5,000 funding, bringing their total Bright Ideas funding to €10,000!

In 2016, our regional judges selected 7 Green Ideas that support eco-friendly community projects to contend for the main award. The 2016 KBC Green Idea Prize was awarded to the Moy Hill Growing Project. As the winner they received additional funding of €2,500 to make their Green Idea a reality.
