This is Luke Bourke’s bright idea for Limerick.

We are building a tool library to promote community sharing, sustainability, access and innovation.

WHY VOTE FOR US

We are building a tool library to promote community sharing, sustainability, access and innovation.

The current consumer model promotes full ownership of all resources. Many citizens do not have the means to purchase their own hand tools or gardening tools so certain projects in their homes or gardens will never be completed.

Our residents association successfully maintain a very small pool of manual gardening tools that residents can borrow as needed.

We wish to extend the range of tools available to our community; establish and promote a sharing, social culture.

Initially we intend to limit our inventory to manual and hand tools such as wheelbarrows, hoes, shovels, saws, hammers, pliers, etc.

Eventually we will be encouraging residents to work on small shared projects that benefit the community as a whole, run training workshops on how to use certain tools and ultimately increase community participation, pride and sustainable use of resources. This will be a volunteer led effort run by our residents association in Garanbawn, Murroe, Co. Limerick.

Our residents association supports an estate in Garanbawn, Murroe, Co. Limerick with over 90 houses and 300 residents. The majority of residents are owner occupied houses of families with children attending school.

Our estate and residents association has a track record of successfully running community projects including KBC Bright Ideas (Garanbawn Community Garden), Team Limerick Cleanup, The Community Pub and The Community Foundation for Ireland.

We intend to build on a strong foundation of community spirit fostered over the last ten years. We have a resourceful, diverse and committed team of volunteers on our residents association.
