Scoil Oilibhear’s Bright Idea for Cork was a 2014 winner.

Their bright idea was to build an activity trail/playground for their 700 pupil primary school.

HOW THEY USED THEIR FUND

The €10,000 funding enabled Scoil Oilibhear to transform its old play facilities from a school yard finished in tarmac to a new dedicated recreational space designed to encourage the school’s 700 pupils to explore and enjoy physical activity.

The activity trail, which leads into the main body of the school’s playground, will be used at PE and break times to help the children develop socially, emotionally, academically and physically during recreation time.

“The activity trail is a fantastic addition to the school and the funding from KBC’s Bright Ideas initiative has been instrumental in making this project a reality for us; it has really helped to rejuvenate the entire school community.”

KBC is proud to have played a part in that. Our Bright Ideas initiative is about helping local projects to secure funding for innovative, creative ideas that can transform community life, and Scoil Oilibear is a shining example of just that.
